Verse of Birds / Véarsa Éan (2012)

Verse of Birds is a double album written and recorded in 2010 and 2011 whilst living in the Burren, on the west coast of Ireland. The album alternately focuses on small (Promontory, The narrow rooms) and large-scale (Of the sea, Domain) landscapes in order to articulate both an intimate and far-reaching sense of place.

The album includes the composition Grey-Back — one of a series of recordings made for the karstic hill ridge known as Cappanawalla (Ceapaigh an Bhaile). Other recordings in the series are collected on the album Ridgelines.

‘One of our most important modern composers.’
