Landings (2006-2011)
A series of albums for the West Pennine Moors of Lancashire, UK, recorded between 2004 and 2011 and released as follows:
Landings — Carousell (2006)
Landings — Richard Skelton (2009)
Rapture, Reprise — Richard Skelton (2011)
The recordings are collected in the digital album, The Complete Landings (2011).
The music accompanies a book of the same name, which reflects on the landscape of Anglezarke, its history and toponymy, its hidden life and silenced voices. The book also documents the artist’s embodied use of music as way of coming to know a place; as a form of call-and-response, and as a way of giving voice that which is hidden or overlooked. In particular, it describes the use of field recordings as a reflexive and recursive way to encounter a landscape and its other-than-human agencies.
